10 Years of Sparkling in Manchester

Jenny-Anne BishopThrough the history of Sparkle, we will describe how this International Transgender Festival /Celebration has empowered an ever increasing number of Trans people to safely “come-out” in Public, whilst greatly raising Trans Awareness in the Manchester Conurbation and beyond.
The Festival includes significant Trans performers, and many events to improve the knowledge and social inclusion of an amazing rainbow of gender diversity through the fringe events and particularly the 2 day Trans Community conference.
The attendance has grown from less than a 1,000 in 2005 to an estimated 10,500 in 2015 to become the largest FREE Trans Festival/ Celebration in the world.
The event significantly  contributes  to the  Manchester economy and helps fund and maintain  the National Trans Memorial.
